9:00 - 10:00 a.m. Our Sunday morning Christian Education Program has concluded for the 9:00 hour.
Sunday School classes at Second Presbyterian Church seek to teach children and youth about God’s love through the Bible as well as through an atmosphere of caring and acceptance in the classroom.
Child care is provided during the Sunday School hour for children under the age of three. All classes are held in the lower level; take the stairs beside the child care area. An elevator is also available in the Rotunda for access to the lower level.
Pre-K through Fifth Grade Classes
Each week your child gets to be a part of a class that teaches the Bible lesson through a variety of teaching methods. Lessons are sent home, allowing parents to partner with us and be part of what their child is learning. Every class overflows with creativity and fun as your child learns about the Bible through age appropriate lessons, crafts, and application activities.Children are dismissed for the last 10 minutes to meet as a group for a brief period of worship, singing, and offering in the common quad area in the lower level of the church. An elevator is available for access to this area. Children in this age group participate in a class according to their grade level.
Fall 2012Curriculum Summary: We Worship God
From the time of Moses to the time of Solomon (about 400
years), the people of Israel evolve from wandering tribes into a landed nation-state.
During this time, they also develop their relationship with God, especially their
understanding of God’s nature and presence. As the Israelites encounter God in creation, the
law, and covenant relationship, their forms of worship grow more corporate and
sophisticated, culminating in the building of Solomon’s temple. The psalms emerge in
this period as the first formalized hymns and prayers. As the children explore the
beginnings of worship with
the people of Israel, they will gain an awareness of worship
in our own time.
Our grade levels are:
